This is what Scout and I are doing today. We are going to have a massage to day while the kids are at school. It has been 12 years since I have had one, I just hope I don’t fall asleep and drool all over the place. Have a great day.

My eldest son’s lease on his apartment is up soon, so he asked if he could move home until he decided where he was going to rent his next apartment. He is waiting to get into a Radiology program to complete his degree, and depending where and when will determine his apartment. So after working a 12 hour shift and sleeping all day, I stumbled out of my bedroom to find my son moving in “Hi Mom, I’m home”. I did’nt think he was moving in for a month or so, but its all good. My eldest is 25 ( I know I was 5 when I had him!!!!), we emigrated from Ireland together when he was 6, and it was just the 2 of us for many years so we have a special bond. Not to say his teenage years were easy, they were a trial at times but he’s still my baby. There is 14 years between him and his younger brother, my 2 girls and my son were so excited he was moving back in. I’m not sure how long he’ll stay but it will great having him here for a while. He saw me knitting last night and now he wants me to make him an afghan, hopefully he won’t want socks as he wears a size 13 shoe. Have a great day.

Are’nt they cute. It contains everything to make a scarf. I found them in the gift shop at the hospital where I work. The Cool Mint is for D#1 for Christmas as blue and green is her favorite colors, Passion Fruit I’m going to keep for myself. Have a great day.

It has been so busy here, I have’nt had time to post. I’ve had meetings everyday, and then there is the usual everyday stuff .I’m afraid not much knitting has been done, but I will have some to post soon. I have been reading and here are some of my Summer Reading Books.
*UNHINGED by Sarah Graves: This was one of the suggestions that Stumbling Over Chaos gave me. I enjoyed this one , it is a quick read and I also have a couple more in this series that I checked out from the library.
*BLIND SIDE by Catherine Coulter: I broke my summer reading rule with this one as I was only going to read books by authors that I had’nt read before, but I do enjoy her books and this one was no different. After reading so many of her books I feel like I know some of the main characters.
*ISLANDS by Anne Rivers Siddons: This was a completely different type of book for me as I usually just read mysteries, but this one has everything, friendship, love, family, and that secrets can have a terrible effect on all of these. I surprised myself by enjoying this book. Have a great day.

So here’s what the TWEEN (11year old son#2) looked like yesterday, I had let him grow his hair long for the summer on the condition he got it cut for school. As you can tell he hates photos.
24hrs later after 2 haircuts in one day( thats another story) here is my handsome son on his first day of Junior High.
He’s not too sure about the uniform!!!!
He decided the uniform was’nt too bad as he could wear his skateboarding shoes and belt.
and of course the skateboard backpack.
Well this is my first day with no kids at home, I’ve already done the bedrooms, kitchen, 1 load of laundry and went for a 2 mile walk and its only 10:00 AM!!!! I think I’ll start going through closets, by this time next week I know I’m going to really enjoy this time to myself its just seems strange right now, even the dog is whimpering at the door looking for the kids. Have a great day.

OK, so this one is harder on me as my youngest, D#2 started Kindergarden today, so forgive a crazy Mom for too many photos.
Click on the following pics to enlarge them
Finally D#2 had enough pictures and said “Mom, you can go now, I want to play”. She was so excited, she was up at 5:00am before anyone else. I still have one more at home until tomorrow, THE TWEEN (son#2). By the end of the day I’ll be wishing it was tomorrow so he can go to school, I think tweens revert back to 2 year olds. Well off to get his hair cut, and have breakfast together. Have a great day.

I have been seeing Dishcloths on so many blogs that I wanted to try making some. My Mason Dixon Knitting Book arrived last week, so I was going to start. However one of my coworkers had bought new kitchen towels but she could’nt find dishcloths to match, so she bought some Sugar’n Cream cotton and asked me if I’d make some. So here they are, I have’nt even washed them, I used 3 different patterns.
( click on the above 2 pictures to enlarge them)
The 2 in the first picture are made with Peaches’n cream cotton
Pattern for the multi colored one was found on the label.
Pattern for the green one is Basketweave Dishcloth by June Diehl.
The 2nd picture is Ballband Dishcloth from the Mason Dixon Knitting book.
I can’t believe how quick and easy these are to make, now I want to make some for me in bright colors. Have a great day.

D#1 started 3rd grade today, summer break is over, and I’m actually sad (must need my head checked). Now this is the same daughter who can never get up in the morning, she has been like this since she was born. Definitely not a morning person, but the last week she has been getting up at 7:00am and showering(the water and soap thing is a shock in itself). So today she was up, showered and dressed by 7:30am, I wonder how long it will last. Yesterday she was on the phone with all her little girl friends, they were planning what they were going to wear for the first day of school. They are only 8 years old!!!!! what will they be like when they are teenagers. I guess since my first 2 kids were boys who don’t care what they wear, how they look, or how they smell!!!! this experience is a shock to the system. So everything had to be color coordinated including the brown and pink back pack, don’t know what she is going to do on the other days as that is the only brown and pink shirt she has.
My other 2 don’t start until next week, so I have another few days before it will be just me and the dog. Have a great day.

OK so no knitting completed, lots of work in progress though. We have just been hanging out, swimming, relaxing, reading, the kids friends over playing and lots of sleepovers. With 3 kids at home and all of them having sleepovers it feels like I have a kids summer camp in my house, but it has been fun. Now to reading, my summer reading goal was to read only works by authors I had never read, I’m proud to say I have kept this goal (although I have been tempted many times by my fav authors). I get my books in the library mainly, so last week I went with my kids to our local library with my list in hand. This list was comprised of all the suggestions you have posted on my blog, thank-you. D#1 came out with a bigger bag of books than me, it seems like that is the one and only gene she got from me, her love of reading. She is only 8, and sometimes I have to limit the amount of time she reads. She will curl up in a chair and read for hours. Anyway I have’nt started my bag of books yet, as I bought about 10 books on clearance in one of the book stores, so I’ve been reading those first.
1) WINDFALLS by Jean Hegland: Completely different from what I normally read. It’s about 2 pregnant teenage girls, the choices they make and how it affects their lives.Their stories are interwoven, and eventually they meet. It is a profound look at motherhood, choices we make, and the impact we can have on one another. I enjoyed this one.
2)NIGHT FALL by Nelson DeMille: Conspiracy at the highest level centered around a TWA flight exploding in midair. Full of suspense and action but the ending left me hanging in midair.
3)The First 48 by Tim Green: Corruption, revenge and kidnapping. This was a slow read for me, I just could’nt get into it. It was kinda all over the place.
4)LAWYERED TO DEATH by Michael Biehl: Murder and curruption which is considered business savvy in large organisations. Attorney Karen Hayes has to defend her client first from a sexual harassment suit, and then the murder of his wife. It was a quick read, has many twists and surprises, keeps you guessing.
Finally, BLACK BEAUTY by Anna Sewell
This is one of my favorite books from my childhood. I have been reading it to my daughters this summer. We finished it this weekend, they too seem to have enjoyed it as much as me. Well thats all for now, hopefully I’ll have some knitting on the next post. Have a great day.

Its finished. This was a really quick and easy knit.
Pattern: City Shawl by Stefanie Japel
Wool: Lion Brand Chenille Thick & Quick Color: 189 Wine
Here’s one of D#1 modeling it, she likes to be in all my posts.
This one is for me, it is so warm. I think I’m going to make one in green for my friend.
