Irish Mama

So my Mom arrived safely, and my kids are so happy to have Grandma here. She plays Uno with them and is planning to show them how to knit this week. She brought lots of Irish candy with her, I must have put on 10lbs in 4 days. I'm can't even show you pics of the candy as it is all gone!!!!! Hey, it was'nt just me who ate it, my 24 year old son came up and we had a candy party.

I have'nt been doing much posting with my Mom here, but I read all your blogs nearly everyday. As for knitting, I'm working on the Shadow Shawl every night because my Mom saw it, and wants to make sure I finish it in time for her to take back to Ireland with her. So everytime I go to get wool from my stash, she's there, and points to the shawl. She knows me too well.

Reading update, I finished Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte, I really enjoyed rereading this book. I had read it in high school, loved it then, and was afraid I would'nt enjoy it this time, but I did.  Now I've started reading the first book in a trilogy by Posie Graeme-Evans, called The Innocent.          

It takes place in the fifteenth century, in England and Europe, and revolves around the Kings and Queens of England. Besides mysteries, I love books on the royalty of England and Europe many centuries ago. Have a great day.

I've been in 2 days of meetings, longest 2 days of my life. Now I normally work from 7pm – 7am, so being at a meeting at 8am for 8 hours and on top of that to wear real clothes (not scrubs and crocs) is not a sight to behold. Good job there was lots of coffee, because by 5pm my feet hurt, my butt had widened by an inch or two from sitting in one place for 8 hours.

Now the good news, my Mom flies in from Ireland tonight, she will be here for a month. I can't wait. It can be lonely, even though I have great friends here, when all your family lives so far away.I still have'nt finished her Shadow Shawl, but I'm 2/3 done.

Also finished  reading this book, it was the first time I have read anything by this author. It was a good book, now on to Wuthering Heights. Have a great day.

I never knew there was such a day.

OK back to lazy days of summer, I must be crazy but I love summer break with the kids, no schedule, no practices to go to, etc. We just do things when we want. We have been swimming everyday, and of course I bring my knitting and books. I just finished two bags which I'm felting right now, hopefully I'll have pictures this week, and I am  also working on Shadow Shawl which once I got the first 50 rows done has turned out to be easier than I thought to knit. I've also joined the Summer of Socks which starts the end of the month, I think my first pair will be Dublin Bay using the "Million Dollar Baby" hand painted yarn.

With regards to reading, I fininished Angels & Demons, I really enjoyed it. In fact I could'nt put it down, it was fast paced and kept ones interest. I could'nt even guess who the mastermind was behind the murders until near the end. I'm going to read The Da Vinci Code also by Dan Brown next.

My kids are enjoying their reading too, which is surprising for my son who usually during the school year fights his nightly reading, but now they all hang out in the back yard after swimming and read for 30mins.

I know this Summer bliss will end any day now, it has only been the first 2 weeks of summer break. By next week they'll be fighting with each other, I'll constantly be hearing "he did it", "no, she did it", "I'm bored", but I can at least dream that it will last, can't I????
